At the end of Year 5, students are nominated for the Year 6 School Leader roles, as listed above. These students are responsible for running assemblies, assisting with special events, attending Student Government meetings and completing important daily jobs at school.

Parklea Public School's Student Government is made up of two representatives from each class; Years 2 - 6, school captains, vice captains and prefects. The Student Government works on specific projects within our school and community. The projects for 2017 include; fundraising, cake stalls (on behalf of the school's Sports Houses), and the Woolworths Earn and Learn Program. The Student Government also becomes involved in other school events and projects as needed throughout the year, becoming the voice of the students at our school.

Our Student Government Representatives attend the school's induction assembly and receive a badge in recognition of their roles. At the end of their term in government, students will receive a special certificate for their school service.

We look forward to working with the Student Government team and gaining a deeper insight into the leadership qualities they can bring to their role as a Student Government Representative and school leader at Parklea Public School.

Students don't have to be school captains or house captains to be considered leaders. We encourage our students to be leaders in the classroom and playground, through their support for other students, or their involvement in academic, sporting, cultural or community events and projects.
