At Parklea we are committed to establishing and maintaining open communication with parents and carers. The welfare of your child is our priority. We will make contact with you whenever we feel that there is a need to seek your assistance in supporting your child at school. Reward systems to reinforce excellent behaviour and good citizenship are in operation at Parklea Public school. These are "Parklea Pals" and "Parklea Perfection" certificates.

Parklea Pals

Children may be awarded with a "Parklea Pal" for a variety of reasons eg: waiting politely in canteen lines, helping someone and displaying good manners. The child writes their name and class on the back of the Parklea Pal ticket and leaves it in the designated container in the Library. At weekly grade assemblies, tickets are drawn out, with the recipients receiving a canteen voucher.

Parklea Perfections

'Parklea Perfection' certificates are awarded for excellent classroom effort, improved application, academic performance and outstanding behaviour. These certificates accumulate, resulting in the awarding of Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards. Awards "roll over" from year to year, thus enabling children to work towards their awards. The awards are presented at special end of term assemblies.

Friendship Ambassadors

From time to time there are occasions when support is necessary for individual children. "Friendship Ambassadors" will meet with these children and ensure that their time in the playground is happy and comfortable. Friendship Ambassadors are provided with special training and are in constant contact with their support teacher.

Star Group and PALS

Sometimes children find the playground a very "big" place. At Parklea we have developed lunchtime groups, known as "Star Group" and PALS, which are led and supervised by teachers. These Groups comprise a small group of children who are learning about appropriate play and social skills. The children in these groups access the playground on selected days, whilst on the remaining days they participate in planned activities with the teacher.
